I’ve been noticing a lot of the major blogs don’t really show love to the “other” Atlanta artists, or if they do it’s a one time thing and then you never hear from them again. I already featured Atlanta based Proton on the site, but it was just one track and I know you want more from them anyways

In a period where downloads and piracy threaten an artist’s livelihood, PROTON has developed a rather progressive outlook on the music industry. It is their philosophy that during such a time, diversity and unpredictability, which formerly were considered weaknesses, are their greatest assets. Their sound is primarily based in hip-hop music, but is diversified by electronic, rock, and alternative influences; fitting ingredients, considering their sole proclamation is not to bring ‘real’ hip-hop back, but to push it forward.

That paragraph alone is sick.

PenHedz is a writing team from California created by up and coming writers and artists, JaVonté and Loriana. The purpose of PenHedz is to establish a new and creative sound that includes various genres specializing in R&B, Neo-Soul, Pop and Alternative music. Their ultimate goal is to acquire their own publishing company, PenHedz Publishing, geared towards writing legendary songs for A-List artists.

These guys are extremely talented. I could definitely see them evolving into something similar to The Clutch in a few years. Take a listen to their songs.

Pison Flo, (Pishon Flo to be exact) has the special combination of talent and skill to not only deliver conscious rap but also produce songs that people would want to listen to in the club. This 21 year old is destined to “bridge..the gap between Christian and World music”, and Pison Flo has definitely already convinced me that he’s the one to do it. So I’m giving you guys his favorite song, my favorite song, and your future favorite song “Dream On” along with another track called “Ride” just to show you how diverse he is.

Chip Tha Ripper is consistently one of the most creative lyricists out. In a time where Chip says you have to move to Atlanta or New York to blow, the Cleveland native has made a point to continue to grind in his city. Chip Tha Ripper just released a mixtape with some of Cleveland’s finest called “B*tch I’m From Cleveland 2″ in early June, and he also recently hosted the Spinfest mixtape with up-and-comer Kid Cudi earlier in the year.
