So I went to the free Lupe show in Saint Louis last nite, and it was pretty good. I’m not as big of a Lupe fan as I used to be pre-The Cool, but Lupe definitely gives a good show regardless.

Before the show, I spotted this lady…..

Going completely HAM. I feel like there’s always a person doing this everywhere I am.

Opening up the show was Black Spade, aka the guy who took Charles Hamilton to uber-fail status…

Spade was cool, but his music is real soulful and chill. A lot of the crowd (or at least the people around me) were kinda young so it was hard for them to really feel him. Still tho, his show was nice, and he brought friends with him. Tef Poe took the stage and did Show Stealers….

Yeah he kinda stole the show a lil bit. And Rockwell Knuckles stole it too.

Yeah I was too busy enjoying the show to take a pic of him. He did See N Say and Government Name. Dude gets possessed when he performs. It’s semi-scary up close.

And Corey Black performed as well, doing Finger In My Nose, and was dope as well. I really liked the fact that Spade gave other cats a lil time to shine, and showed people a little bit of the hip hop scene in Saint Louis.

Then Lupe came out shortly after that. What I didn’t realized was that people are like REAL Lupe fans. Lupe just isn’t a guy I would be jumpin up and down for. I dunno…it was interesting. He did a lot of songs. Below is Daydream. The audio is VERY LOUD, but it gives you an idea of the energy Lupe had for the whole show.

And he even jumped off the main stage and performed next to the “sign language lady” who signed most of the show. She was goin IN. I caught the end of it.

At the end of the show Lupe performed some tracks from the new album, Shining Down and another track that I’m not sure of the name. He also went on to say that B.o.B. Bobby Ray, Pharrell, Chad, and Kenna are all on the new album.

Should be nice.
